Roseland
Roseland is an unincorporated community in Nelson County, Virginia. While the area lacks defined borders, most Roseland homes are located near Virginia State Route 151 and along the Piney River on the southeastern end of Nelson County. It is said that Roseland is named for Robert Rose, an 18th-century pastor who wrote journal entries about his travels through the area and owned a large tract of land where the community now sits.
Homes for sale in Roseland range from ski condos near Wintergreen and affordable mountain cottages to expansive farms with large acreage. Roseland residents enjoy a quiet country atmosphere in close proximity to the many outdoor recreational opportunities of the Blue Ridge Mountains. However, the convenient location around Virginia State Route 151 provides easy access to the cities of Lynchburg and Charlottesville and all of their amenities.
In recent decades, the area around Roseland and Route 151 has become known as the “Craft Beverage Trail” for its numerous wineries, cideries, breweries, and distilleries. Devil’s Backbone Brewing Company, Blue Toad Hard Cider, and Bryant’s Small Batch Cider are all located in Roseland. These popular destinations for food and drink, as well as Wintergreen Resort and the numerous B&Bs and country inns, make Nelson “Virginia’s weekend address.”
